Before hydration reminders and bento box hacks, there was a simpler time: one squishy sandwich on Wonder Bread, a warm thermos filled with questionable juice(well kool-aid), and a metal lunchbox that told the world who you were.
If you grew up in the ‘70s, ‘80s, or even early ‘90s, you probably carried that lunchbox like it was a badge of honor. You weren’t just eating lunch—you were making a statement. Scooby-Doo? You had a sense of humor. Barbie? You had taste. The A-Team? You were probably the coolest kid at your table.
My own, a metal Buck Rogers lunch box, first day of school mom loaded and I could barely lift it. She quickly realized her garage sale score was not going to work by the time I got home she had been to the Venture store and I had a cute plastic my little pony lunch box, until I could build up my muscles a bit.

It kept soup warm (ish), juice(lets be real kool-aid) cold (rarely), and somehow survived daily drops, shakes, and leaks without totally falling apart. It also represented your daily ration of hydration, remember back then liquid was a privilege not a necessity.
Today, those retro lunchboxes and thermoses aren’t just memory triggers—they’re highly collectible pieces of pop culture history. Most are missing there Thermos, seems we destroyed those more often than not, find one with both intact and you may have some value on your hands!
