My Evening Ritual: A Pot of Peace

It started out of necessity, not intention. I never drink enough water during the day — something I’ve been told a thousand times and still somehow forget. So, one evening, I decided to brew a pot of mint tea before bed. At first, it was just about hydration. But over time, it became something more — a ritual I look forward to every night.

Around 8 or 9 p.m., I fill the kettle, grab my favorite mug, and let the scent of mint drift through the kitchen as the water boils. Some nights I get adventurous and switch it up — ginger tea, or maybe orange spice tea if I’m feeling bold — but somehow, I always find my way back to mint. There’s something so quietly perfect about it. The mild flavor, the soothing warmth, the way each sip feels like it’s washing away the day.

Every now and then, life gets in the way. I’ll look at the clock and realize it’s already 9:30 or 10, and I haven’t had my tea yet. But even then, I can’t skip it. I’ll make a smaller pot — just enough to enjoy without regretting it at 2 a.m. — because the evening feels incomplete without it. That simple act of brewing and sipping signals that it’s time to slow down, to breathe, to let the day go.

What started as a practical solution has become something I truly cherish — a small, quiet ritual that relaxes me.

So now I’m curious:
What relaxing rituals have you developed to end your day on a peaceful note?
